We’ve talked about the character of God for a few weeks now in this series so let’s review what we’ve learned. To know someone means we know about their character. A person's character is their true identity. Here are some things we've learned about the characteristics of God.
Blog 1- Creator
Genesis 1 tells us that the world was without form and void; the actual word is chaos. God hovered a chaotic mass and created a beautiful Earth. God hovered over us and our chaos and created a new being alive in Him, dead to sin and alive to Christ.
Blog 2- Benefactor
God blessed Adam and Eve. He commissioned Himself to be their Benefactor. God is our benefactor! He transfers to us His children (beneficiaries) benefits, goods, privileges, values, and morals that invokes happiness and success in both the earthly and divine realms.
Blog 3- Increaser
Fruitfulness or increase involves three components in a marriage: spiritual, mental/emotional, and physical. God is the glue that binds two individuals into one remarkable and unique couple. It is this bond that produces godly, successful, wholesome, and long lasting results.
Blog 4- Multiplier
When God spoke over Adam and Eve the blessing of multiplication, He conferred upon them favor to be ‘great’. God’s people are to be great in number, in stature, influence and rank.
Blog 5- What is Your Legacy?
Adam and Eve were conferred the blessing to refill and replenish the earth. God’s mind was on generations. Each generation is to hold a deeper relationship with the Father and recognize more fully His will on this earth.
Blog 6- How Paradise was Lost
Although God created a perfect earth, He warned our first parents from the beginning that they had the blessing of authority to subdue it. Adam and Eve were conscripted into God’s military service and given the duty to defend the earth and its citizens. He cautioned them about the enemy and gave them notice that unless they guarded themselves and the earth from danger, tragedy would surely strike.
Blog 7- Love Covers
All through the Bible, God meets the remorseful, covers them with His love, and restores their self-respect and relationship with Him. It gives God great pleasure to remove our shame, cover us with his love and clothe us with His dignity.
Blog 8- Seed vs Serpent
God promised that from Eve’s seed a male child would rise to defeat the serpent and his plans. Eve believed God’s prophecy and pursued it. Eve threw off what hindered to achieve her goal. She threw off the serpent’s deception. She was no longer deceived about God’s character. She knew He wanted redemption for her and her descendants. That put her heart in the right position to be able to pray for what she and God both desired.
God is Creator and turns chaos into beauty.
God is Benefactor and blesses us with all good things.
God is the Increaser in all we set our hands to do for Him.
God multiplies us to be great in number, rank, stature and influence.
God is invested in our legacy and desires our generations to be great.
God gave us the blessing of authority to guard all that concerns us.
God covers us with His love and removes our shame.
God keeps His promises.
What a wonderful Heavenly Father we have! He proves Himself over and over again to His children and He always shines magnificently. I pray this series has increased your faith in God our Father. What can we conclude from this? God is on our side, and if He is on our side, who can be against us?
In Part 2 of this series which we’ll start on Tuesday, “Who is God, Part 2”, we'll continue to look at the character of God and all His goodness.
May God our Father richly bless you this weekend.
You are in our prayers.
