We turn around and it's Christmas once again. I love Christmas and look forward to it every year. But, it seems that ‘everything holiday’ tells us how we can find Christmas happiness in all the right activities or all the right places.
It's in the hayrides
Making gingerbread houses
Decorating the house and tree
Drinking hot chocolate
You know, I remember having done all of these things and still feeling quite empty. In fact, when the seasonal festivities came to a close and all the decorations were packed away, I remember thinking "There’s got to be more to life than this.”
Look at the word ‘Christmas’. It means ‘mass for the Christ child’. Mass is a gathering of a congregation for the purpose of worship. Christ is the Latin word for Messiah. Jesus the Messiah, the Christ is the one being worshiped.
So you see, Christmas isn’t all about feeling good, or being good, or doing good. Christmas is about the One Who came for our good.
We are about to enter the Advent season. This year, we put together an Advent series in video format. The first of nine videos will be up Monday, December 3rd. One will be posted every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from December 3rd- December 21st. Our purpose is to reflect on the events that took place concerning the birth of Jesus. Please check it out. Our prayer is that this series will develop a better understanding of God’s character and cultivate a deeper relationship with Him.
Luke 2:13-14 KJV
And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
Grasping the unselfishness of God, His good will towards us, and His great love for us brings joy. For this cause we take pleasure in all the festivities that come with Christmas.
Blessings to all,
